Dash
It starts with a date, marking a birth.
Month/Day/Year if you live in the US. Year/Month/Day if you live most anywhere else.
We come into this world screaming with our first breath.
Our last breath is usually quieter. It’s often minutes before anyone knows it was our last.
Another breath marking Month/Day/Year.
The time between that first and last breath is marked with a dash.
It doesn’t matter if the dash marks a day or 100 years.
It’s just a line that tells us nothing of the person that lived between the dates.
Dedicated to Michael Grant Wright, October 25, 1952 – February 1, 2022.
One hell of an awesome human. Thanks for letting me be a part of your dash.
