Rocker
The click of the ceiling fan keeps perfect time.
I sit swaddled in the soft cushion and rock.
The creak and crack of the chair offer counterpoint to the fan,
while the birds carry on cheerful small talk outside.
As the clouds arrive, the sky dims, intensifying the green forest curtains.
The warm afternoon air carries a hint of wood chips and the impending rain.
I eventually start rocking in time with the fan, forming an unconventional band.
The back and forth of the rocker massages my body, calms my mind, and soothes my soul.
I lean my head back and enjoy.
