One of these changes was Piney’s cat tree. This cat tree sat in front of the big window in Catherine’s office. Piney loved her cat tree and would sleep in the top of it for hours. She loved to watch the birds, feel the warm sun on her fur, and nap. Goldie started to sleep in Piney’s cat tree. He also loved to watch the birds, feel the warm sun on his fur, and nap. Piney didn’t like this. She and Goldie fought over who would get the spot at the top of the cat tree.
Catherine decided to make a new place that allowed Piney and Goldie to lay in the window, watch birds, feel the warm sun on their fur, and nap.
Catherine went to the store, bought some supplies, and built a long shelf. She painted the shelf and put it in front of the office window. She put a bed on each end and a pot of cat grass in the middle. Piney and Goldie each had a bed and a snack bar to enjoy while looking out the window.
This new furniture didn’t leave room for Piney’s old cat tree, so Catherine removed it and put it in the living room until she could throw it away. After all, Piney didn’t need it anymore because she had a new bed in the window. Piney disagreed. She lay atop the cat tree in her perch and stared at the wall. She refused to lie in her new bed by the window. She would lay at the bottom of the new furniture and stare at Catherine, upset that she couldn’t lie by the window in her cat tree.
One day, Catherine cut the top off Piney’s cat tree and placed it on the new furniture. This way, Piney could have her cat tree bed in front of the office window.
Catherine got her tools, worked, sawed, swore, and eventually cut Piney’s bed off the top of the cat tree. Catherine placed the cat tree bed in front of the window. Piney immediately jumped up in the bed and curled up for a nap.
