Pause, September Edition
I decided to take a break from posting until October. The school year began three weeks ago, causing a shift in my routine. I struggle to blend a writing practice into my teaching routine this fall. Writing requires time to ponder, focus, investigate, and write. Starting a new semester and finishing my third writing class since April hasn’t given me the space to write as I desire. I developed many new skills and techniques over the summer. I also have many new ideas I want to explore in this format; however, I have yet to find a balance that allows the time to incorporate the learning done over the summer with the new routine for the semester while producing quality blog posts. I aim to improve my writing quality, not the quantity I write. This goal takes time and practice.
Writing is my current major creative endeavor. It can’t always be about production. Sometimes, creatives need to make space to explore and quietly develop before releasing new work. This is where I am now. I have a few personal essays I want to write and a couple of memoir pieces taking shape in my mind. I need time to align my academic routine with life responsibilities and space for the writing I hope to create. The coming weeks will allow me to finish my current writing class, adjust to the semester routine, and establish a writing practice that fits into life outside of summer.
I am excited to share the work I will cultivate in this time with you. See you in October.
